Self-doubt once made decisions for us. Taking the leap felt impossible. But here we are, side by side, building something we believe in.

When I left behind the familiar years ago to work at Duke, it was a leap. When I launched Aptitude Leadership Coaching, it was another. Watching Cassaundra grow Nourish Freely has been incredible. But what you don’t always see, the part that rarely makes it onto social media, is the work behind the scenes.

​

Entrepreneurship as a couple isn’t just about business. It’s about belief. Belief in ourselves, in each other, and in the impact we can make. But belief alone isn’t enough. The late nights, the brainstorming over breakfast, the constant balancing act of life, work, and a shared vision. Those moments don’t get posted but they are what make this possible.

Social media is full of polished highlights. What it doesn’t always show is the uncertainty, the small wins that mean everything, or the deep commitment it takes to build something meaningful.

For both of us, this journey hasn’t been easy but it’s been worth it. And if you’re standing at the edge of a decision, wondering if you should take that next step, know this. You’ll never feel 100% ready. But you are capable. And sometimes, the only way to see that is to move.
